Wilingdon Island

Wilingdon Island : According to definition of Island Wilingdon is really an Island no doubt. The land swrrounded with water in all the sides is called an Island and Wilingdon is not exceptional. But it is not natural it is manmade artificial Island. Creation of the Island is very interesting. To extended the navigability of Kochin port digging the soil for a long period the depth of the port has been increased gathering the soil day after day gradually created a big Island. This is the Wilingdon Island.
On the opposite side of the Island the main land is Earnakulam. It has been connected with the Island by a concrete bridge.
The most astonishing is that on the artificial Island there is Kochin airport, buses, taxies jeeps movement system. Also there is railway station, the navigation port, the main had quarter of Indian Navigation western command and hospital, post office, and the hotels and resturents also here and there.

Bhaipin Island : From the Jette of Kochi Port may go to Bhaipin Island direct. It is not a natural Island it is man-made. Its decorating is really beautiful. From Earnakulam steamer fare is Rs 30.00. On the way can be seen fishing in chinies style. From here may go to Kochi, hand made Fort by the English.
