Fort Kochin
Fort Kochin :
At a very distant past Kochin Island was one of the Port city of India. To the
neighouring countries of India it was known as Kochin port. Latter on the
employees of the east India Company built here a lafge Fort. Kochin was named
on “Fort Kochin”. The fort is in collaboration of the British and the Indian
architecture and sculpture. Through this port the business activities was
maintained among the king of Kochin and the established business men of the
outer India. Not only that, the natural beauty of the port surrounding with the
sea and the range of coconut trees much charm the tourists.
The English, The dutches, the
Arabian, the Jews, and the Chinese and the Partugige businessmen gathered this
port of the Malabar Coast for the sake of their business. But being attracted
by the grace and beauty of the island many of the stayed here and has built
permanent residence.
As a aresult in collaboration of
different casts and different languages there formed a new civilization and
culture which is still remaining. In the 1st century the Jews came here
and stared business. Gradually extended the cities. On the 14th
century the cities of the Jews much extended at Matranchari. They are found in
the Jew town these days also.
