The palace of the Dutches
The palace of the Dutches : The palace is situated at a place named Mattanchari. In the year
1555AD. The Partugige built it spending a huge money. Latter on they gifted it
to the king of Kochin. After hundred years latter the Dutch businessmen made
addition and alteration and reconstructed it at a same time. From then it was
known as the Palace of the Dutches.
The court room of the Palace is very
large. Here the king used to do his judicial activities and consultation with
his courtiar. The coronation ceremony of the kings used to performed here. At
present this room used as the preservation room of the images of Kochin Kings
large or small and of different shape, their swords, dresses etc. These are expressed
on the walls of a few rooms of the Palace through narrative picture of the Mythology
and the Ramayana. Except Friday and Government Holidays. From 10am to 5pm of
other days it remains open and no entry fee is required.
The government of India is governing
the institution for a long period and little by little. In a charming
environment not only of India but many famous sea scientist of the world also
are engaged here in endless researching here about Fishes, sea animals and sea
plants. Many sea scientists of outside India every year came here for a short
period for their research work. The tourist can enjoy boat riding in exchange
of small expense. For lodging there is Malabar Hotel which is much costly.
