Kalikot : To
some one Kalikot is known as ‘Kagikore’ Kagikore mans ‘Cock-Fort’ in Malayam
language. Kagikore is the present name of Kalikot.

of Malabar reigned at Kalikot (kagikore)
In the year 1498 AD on the sea beach
of Kappade at a distance of 22km from Kalikot the Partugige sailor
Bhasko-da-Gama bring the sailing ship near the shore. In rememberance of that
here engraved in a tablet about brining the siling ship in the year 1498 on 20th
May. Then Kalikot was a famous port city of India at comtemporary period. At
present also among the famous ports of
India it is one of these.
