How to travel Kalikot : By Train : From Mangalore Kalikot is at a distance of 220 km. From Kochin 220km. From Trichur 115km. From these places there are several trains throughout the day to travel Kolikot. about Kalikot

It is heard that, in the middle of 9 th century attaming the age of superannuation Chermal Perumal the King of Malabar moved towards Makke leaving his kingdom. At the time of departure he distributed his own kingdom to his ministers and commanders. Then he also gifted to Jomorin Tamuri of Kolikot an area of land in all sides of the temple of Talli up to a cock’s crowing distance from the temple. At the end of the midival age a special quality of printed cloth made of India exported in the Europin Countries for sale by sailing ship. At that time the name of the port was kalikot. Then it was famous as a tourist centre and a industrial centre as well. Obtaining the landed property from the King of Kalikot the English constructed here their business centre. Kalikot

Kalikot : To some one Kalikot is known as ‘Kagikore’ Kagikore mans ‘Cock-Fort’ in Malayam language. Kagikore is the present name of Kalikot. In the middle ages the Jamorin Kings of Malabar reigned at Kalikot (kagikore) In the year 1498 AD on the sea beach of Kappade at a distance of 22km from Kalikot the Partugige sailor Bhasko-da-Gama bring the sailing ship near the shore. In rememberance of that here engraved in a tablet about brining the siling ship in the year 1498 on 20 th May. Then Kalikot was a famous port city of India at comtemporary period. At present also  among the famous ports of India it is one of these.

Bedakkunathan Temple

Things to be seen at Thrisur : Bedakkunathan Temple : The temple is situated on a heap about 70 mts high and acquiring 3.5 hector area. Thire are 4 towngates on four sides of the temple. Alway : Beside the river Parier and at a distance of 20km from the town Kochin Alway is situated. It is a famous industrial centre of this region. From Earnakulam there can go both by train or by bus. Train takes 30 minutes and 40 minutes by bus.

Archacological Museum

Archacological Museum : The Museum is situated on the Trippunitura hill palace. Here the children Triffic Park has been built by a most modern system. Triffic related lessons are being learnt here to the school students. At a small distance of this park there has been built “Subhaspark” in rememberance of Netaji Subhas. On the middle of the park there is a beautiful artificial spring. At night it looks heavenly beauty decorating with lightings of different colour. Among the other things here remarkable the Mosque, the temple and the church. The Tripunior temple here will give pleasure to the artlovers by its architecture and the skillfulness of its sculpture. In the month of ‘Bhadra’ the “Chingam” festival ovserved here gorgeously. The Enathkulam Appan Shiva temple here is very old. At a short distance there can be found the temple of Ganapati and the Snake Temple shining with artistic work.

Parikshit Thampura Musuam

Parikshit Thampura Musuam : It is situated at the central position of Earnakulam town on the Darbar Road. The main attraction here is many paintings of famous painters of the 19 th century. The mural pictures collected from the royal family of Kochin must be welcomed by the tourists. The other remarkable things that are being preserved here are the art of sculpture, old coins and images. Monday it remain closed. From Tuesday to Sunday it remain open for the common people from 9.30 am to 12.00pm and from 3.00 pm to 5pm.

Earnakulam

Earnakulam : It is situated on the main land and on the opposite side of Fort Kochin. The town Earnakulam is looked like a picture on the canvas and well derocated. In the past it was the residence of the kings of Kochin.

The Graveyard of Vasko-da-Gama

The Graveyard of Vasko-da-Gama : It can be found on the fort Kochin. At present it is almost ruined. His death body buried here. The inhabitants of the Partugige did not satisfied at this. At the agitation of the countrymen the Government became unsteady. Seeing no other means the king of Partugal arranged to return back his death body to his own country. Last of all after 14 years his death body (The cage of the bones) digging out of the graveyard and taking it to the Partugal again buried there with royal honour. To remember this there built a little tombstone also. Nehru Children Park also give pleasure. You may also see the Cent Francis Church which was build in the year 1510 AD. Beside the graveyard of Vasko-da-gama there is Santacruge Cothedral. The old precious paintings are being preserved here and also can be found the astonishing chinies net here.

Fort Kochin

The palace of the Dutches : The palace is situated at a place named Mattanchari. In the year 1555AD. The Partugige built it spending a huge money. Latter on they gifted it to the king of Kochin.
