Where to stay at Kovalam : Though Kovalam is not a industrial or business cantre, only for the attraction of sea beach many men gather there. The hotels and resturents there are surrounding only two region. But the hotels of main land at a short distance is much cheaper than the hotels lying on the sea bank. The sea facing room fare of the hotels lying on the seabank are much more than the others. In season the fare of these rooms are extremely high. In the off season the fare has come down in comparison to that. Truly it is to say the ups and down of the fare depends on the gathering of the tourists there. So it is not possible to give clear conception about the fare of the hotels. Yet the names address and other information of the hotels are given below. The season there is from the middle of October to February. In season the gathering of tourists there is so thick that, they have to face much problem to seek a shelter. It is heard that, in the middle of 9 th century attaming the age of superannuation Chermal Perumal the King of Malabar moved towards Makke leaving his kingdom. At the time of departure he distributed his own kingdom to his ministers and commanders. Then he also gifted to Jomorin Tamuri of Kolikot an area of land in all sides of the temple of Talli up to a cock’s crowing distance from the temple. At the end of the midival age a special quality of printed cloth made of India exported in the Europin Countries for sale by sailing ship. At that time the name of the port was kalikot.
