moving by the side of canal seeking water. In the lake can be found astonishing
Mahashir fish. In the year 1895AD the king of Tribankur dug out 25km long lake
with a view to irrigation in the cultivated land and to produce hydro
electricity by daming the Parier river. He named it by ‘Naliampat Sanctuary’.
In the year 1995 AD it was named as “Parier wild life sanctuary’ In the year
1978 India Government listed as sanctuary.
Kalikot
Kalikot : To some one Kalikot is known as ‘Kagikore’ Kagikore mans ‘Cock-Fort’ in Malayam language. Kagikore is the present name of Kalikot. In the middle ages the Jamorin Kings of Malabar reigned at Kalikot (kagikore) In the year 1498 AD on the sea beach of Kappade at a distance of 22km from Kalikot the Partugige sailor Bhasko-da-Gama bring the sailing ship near the shore. In rememberance of that here engraved in a tablet about brining the siling ship in the year 1498 on 20 th May. Then Kalikot was a famous port city of India at comtemporary period. At present also among the famous ports of India it is one of these.
