Vembanad Lake, Sister Alphan’s Memorial

Vembanad Lake : The lake is situated in the West of Kattyam town. There also be found back water. The lake is surrounded with ever green range of coconut tree. At a distance the tea garden on the slope of the hill is not less attractive. In the eastern region of Dembanadu there are the gardens of coffi, rubber and pepper. These lucrative agricultural crops has developed the town and is developing the lively hood of the local inhabitants also.

Sister Alphan’s Memorial : Among the notable things here the Tombstone of sister Alaphan is remarkable. During her life time she acquired the fame of the Citizen astonishing them by her activities. Her followers built the Tombstone on her graveyard and used to pay their homage to her immortal soul.

At the time of departure he distributed his own kingdom to his ministers and commanders. Then he also gifted to Jomorin Tamuri of Kolikot an area of land in all sides of the temple of Talli up to a cock’s crowing distance from the temple. At the end of the midival age a special quality of printed cloth made of India exported in the Europin Countries for sale by sailing ship. At that time the name of the port was kalikot. Then it was famous as a tourist centre and a industrial centre as well. Obtaining the landed property from the King of Kalikot the English constructed here their business centre.
