Astamuri Lake

Astamuri Lake : The lake is surrounded with the hill of Chinaclay and with evergreen range of coconut trees is waiting for invitation to the tourists with its hevenly beauty. The lake will charm each and every beauty lovers and also will astonish them. There is boating system in exchange of a small amount of money.

It is heard that, in the middle of 9 th century attaming the age of superannuation Chermal Perumal the King of Malabar moved towards Makke leaving his kingdom. At the time of departure he distributed his own kingdom to his ministers and commanders. Then he also gifted to Jomorin Tamuri of Kolikot an area of land in all sides of the temple of Talli up to a cock’s crowing distance from the temple. At the end of the midival age a special quality of printed cloth made of India exported in the Europin Countries for sale by sailing ship. At that time the name of the port was kalikot. Then it was famous as a tourist centre and a industrial centre as well. Obtaining the landed property from the King of Kalikot the English constructed here their business centre.
