About Kochin
Long
days ago, possibly near about 1500AD. Partugal businessman Vasko-da-Gama came this
port by sailing ship. With the permission of thethen government they started
business here. They extended their business relation with the neighbouring
states and countries soon. Reigning here about 150 years in the year 1663AD a
few another foreign sailing ships reached here. Next came the Dutch
businessmen. They were large in number and ferocious type and were powerful in
weapons. As a result it was possible to defeat the Partugal businessmen and
drive then out from here. Thus the Dutch businessmen spread their total control
and earned huge money by monopoly business.
In the
year 1759AD the Jamorins of Kalikot tried to obstruct the aggression of Kochin.
But ill luck. He had to fled away the state after defeating. The Jamorins
captured the Kochin. Then another 25 years passed away. The queen of the sea
Kochin attracted the notice of Hydar Ali. He fell over the Kochin, of Jamorine the
State with huge soldiers and easily captured the Kochin defecting the king of
Jamerine with powerful weapons.
After
the arrival of Bhasco-da-Game, the Partugal businessman and his companions the
Kochin port developed faster. The port, which was neglected so long now it
became busy. The village environment turned into township.
The
developed port city Kochin turned into the tributary state of East India
Company (The English) in the year 1791AD. AT present the 2nd
important port of India Kochin export the rubber, paper, coconut and coconut
fiber with full loaded ship.
The main
attraction of the tourist here is large seaport, broad sea beach covered with
rows of coconut trees and playing at back water. The extra is the beauty of
artificial island Willingdon.
