Temple of Padmanabhaswami : After a long research it is still unknown the name of builder and the foundation date of the temple. It is situated in the middle of Tirubantapuram Town and is at a distance of half km from Rly. Station and the bus terminous.
By assumption it is said  that, about threethousand years B.C. the famous Padmanavaswami temple was founded.
In the year 1729 A.D king Martanda began the building of the present temple. Padmanavaswami was the family deity of the state of the king Martanda and his previous kings. So all the family members of this king indentified them selves as “Padmanava Das.”

It is heard that, in the middle of 9 th century attaming the age of superannuation Chermal Perumal the King of Malabar moved towards Makke leaving his kingdom. At the time of departure he distributed his own kingdom to his ministers and commanders. Then he also gifted to Jomorin Tamuri of Kolikot an area of land in all sides of the temple of Talli up to a cock’s crowing distance from the temple. At the end of the midival age a special quality of printed cloth made of India exported in the Europin Countries for sale by sailing ship. At that time the name of the port was kalikot. Then it was famous as a tourist centre and a industrial centre as well. Obtaining the landed property from the King of Kalikot the English constructed here their business centre.
